STROKESTOWN 2023 ENTRY
Welcome to Strokestown
And you are very welcome.
In celebrating the 65th year of the Tidy Towns competition we are very pleased to invite you to visit our amazing small community – one that has been part of the Tidy Towns family since the early days – and we hope that Tidy Towns judges and assessors have a positive visit.
The current Tidy Towns committee was formed in March 2022. However, community support for Tidy Towns Ireland from previous Strokestown committees and unsung volunteers has been in place for over 50 years.
Our 2023 application is designed to build on the fantastic work undertaken by our hard-working predecessors, businesses, voluntary groups, community teams and caring individuals over many years and develop this to meet the needs of a 21st Century Strokestown – one that enables our ever-changing community to combine our undoubtedly important national and local history with the challenges and pressures of a changing international, national and local world.
As an Executive Committee we have met with our active Core Group, local businesses and other community-focused groups and individuals to discuss what’s important to them and to Strokestown.
Based on this we have devised a Community Improvement Plan (CIP) to give all in Strokestown (residents, businesses and visitors) the ability to monitor our progress towards agreed actions, whether directly involved in making changes or viewing externally. We work hard to ensure that all actions are clearly measurable, achievable, realistic and will have a positive impact across our town. This CIP is regularly reviewed and updated and is publicly accessible to all via our website (https://strokestowntidytowns.weebly.com/).
A REQUEST FROM STROKESTOWN TIDY TOWNS GROUP: We ask that, during your consideration of our 2023 application, you note that ALL agreed improvement actions are factored on Strokestown being bypassed. This continues to be delayed, restricting our ability (as a committee and community) to develop substantive, long-term plans.
Thank you for taking the time to visit us in Strokestown. We hope you find our application useful, informative and enjoyable.
